Now I come up with modem issues

My modem keeps disconnecting - how do I stop this?
Answer

Disconnections can be caused by various reasons.

* Modem issue
* Line Issue
* Incorrect Drivers
* Faulty Cables
* Idle disconnect option

Step 1:

As with sync issues, the first thing we need to do is to eliminate any other equipment causing the disconnection issue. You will need to perform an isolation test as described here.
Step 2 (USB modems only):

Reinstall the USB drivers, check your power managementand perform an isolation test, as described below.

If the problems continue while the line is isolated after you have reinstalled the USB drivers and checked power options; check that your computer is free of viruses and spy ware. If the disconnection problem continues after all this please contact the helpdesk to resolve the problem.
Step 3:

Check the modem configuration to ensure that the idle timeout setting has not been activated. Also try switching protocols. Whilst we generally suggest PPPoA for USB and PPPoE for Ethernet, you can use either with your Broadband connection.
